Our History

In 1984, Rex Greer purchased a new truck and attempted to locate a unit to provide the same functions as the Pony Pack 200, but discovered that nothing available was satisfactory.  By combining several different products, some needs were met, but others were not.  In addition, cost and weight were prohibitive, and some also required unacceptable modifications to the truck cab and sleeper.  With over 25 years in the trucking industry, both as a driver and an independent owner/operator, Rex knew a better solution had to be possible, and he intended to find it.  After four years of design, testing and modification, followed by more than a decade of manufacturing with numerous improvements (many suggested by Pony Pack owners), there are several thousand units saving their owners money every day.

Pony Pack saves its owners money by drastically reducing fuel consumption, extending main engine and accessory component overhaul or replacement times, extending oil change intervals and reducing down time for service repairs...all of these cost savings while still maintaining operator comfort and increasing peace-of-mind.  Pony Pack is a great "back up" when the main engine alternator or A/C compressor fails, usually at the most inopportune time.  A study by Argonne National Laboratories shows that main engine idle elimination will add as much as two hours of engine life for each hour of high idle elimination.  Modern, high HP diesel engines are designed to run at a reasonable rpm, under a load, not at an idle, with little or no load.  In addition to reducing operating costs, Pony Pack is environmentally friendly, cutting  exhaust pollution by as much as 95%.
